From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

End of Term 3

I cannot believe we have reached the end of term so quickly. It seems like we only just started! We have seen our COVID restrictions eased considerably during the term which has led to a more ‘normal’ approach to school operations. Having said this, we have experienced some considerable amount of staff absences due to COVID, flu and other viruses, etc. and despite this have managed to ensure we have our school appropriately staffed and our learning programs continuing.

We all look forward to our two week break and I am sure there will be a lot of families looking forward to getting outside and enjoying the warmer spring weather and if you are lucky enough attending the Royal Show. Enjoy your break and we look forward to seeing you all in Term 4.

Music Choir

I had the greatest of pleasures to attend the Cluster Muster Performance at Ashdale Secondary College on Monday and was very impressed by the performance of our Choir and Guitar ensemble. They were wonderful. Well done to all students concerned and to Mr Ferrier and also to Mr Jelley for his assistance. I am also looking forward to attending the Massed Choir Event tonight at the Perth Concert hall to watch our choir perform. I am very sure they will do very well.

Open Night

What a great evening. Thank you to all those parents and extended family members who attended on the night. It was fantastic to see so many parents getting involved in the learning activities during the evening. Thank you also to the staff for their work in getting these activities organised. Our Specialist Teachers also ran wonderful activities and I particularly like the QR codes attached to students art work in the Art Room. These allowed the students to explain their pieces of work.

Parents gave very good feedback about the evening and appreciated the opportunity to visit the school. It was evident that not only were the students very proud of their work they also enjoyed having their parents visit.

Interschool Athletics Carnival

Well done to our students for a great effort at our Ashdale Cluster Athletics Carnival. We seemed to do very well in the running races. Mrs Mattock who attended, in my absence, also indicated that our students competed with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. She was impressed with the sportsmanship displayed by our students. Whilst we didn’t win the shield I have no doubt the students enjoyed themselves and tried their best. Congratulations and well done to you all.

Zero2hero

Year 6 students from LA31 completed the CHEVRON TOUGH STUFF program last week and celebrated their achievements. Tough Stuff is an 8-week resilience-building program by zero2hero. Participants complete both physical training and mental coaching to set them up for success. Throughout the program, the Chevron Tough Stuff presenter Brooke Triplett, supported students in reaching the required milestones needed to complete the ultimate milestone – a four kilometre run. Students have finished the course with improved confidence, a sense of achievement and a tool-kit of life skills to use in the future.

Kind Regards,

Josh Jashari
Principal

Sports News …. With Mr Baggio

Interschool Athletics Carnival

Another Interschool Athletics Carnival has come and gone, with more than 80 of our students participating over the two days at Carnaby Rise. We had some tremendous results, particularly in the track events, finishing off in 3rd place of the 5 schools. The students showed excellent sportsmanship and gave their best effort from start to finish. I am already looking forward to seeing who will represent Landsdale in 2023!

Music Notes …. With Mr Ferrier

The Landsdale Primary Choir and Guitar ensemble performed in the 2022 Ashdale Senior College Cluster Muster on Monday 19th September. Parents and teachers were entertained by the students' impressive musicianship!

Book Week Dress-Up Parade

We will be holding our Whole School Book Week Dress-Up Parade for all students and staff from Kindy to Year 6 on FRIDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER (the last day of this term).

Students are invited to dress up as either a character from a book, as the book itself or they can wear a costume that relates to this year’s Book Week theme of “Dreaming with Eyes Open.” If possible, we ask that students bring their chosen book with them (or borrow it from the Library) to show the relationship between their costume and book. No need to make, purchase or hire expensive costumes. Just upcycle and use what you have! All students who participate in the Dress-Up Day Parade will receive a “Dreaming with Eyes Open” bookmark.

Two parades will be held on the school quadrangle outside the Undercover Area on the morning of FRIDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER for students to share their costumes and books with the whole school community:

Junior Parade

Kindy*/Pre-Primary/Yr 1/Yr 2

@ 9.00am-9.45am

Senior Parade

Yr 3/Yr 4/Yr 5/Yr 6

@ 10.00am-10.45am

Parents are most welcome to attend this special event. We hope you enjoy this colourful morning with us. Thank you for your participation. We look forward to seeing everyone dressed up for a fun, final day of term.

* Please note:

A Group Kindy Rotation students (Joey A, Bilby A and Possum A) will hold their parade on Tuesday 20th September in the K/PP area.

B Group Kindy Rotation students (Joey B, Bilby B and Possum B) will join the rest of the school for the parade on Friday 23rd September.

Please check with your child’s Kindy teacher for clarification.

Most families have pre-school or school-aged children and we are experiencing similar issues while raising our children in more than one language. We also work together with professionals who share information on bilingualism and multilingualism. We can probably put you in touch with people who speak your language.

P&C News

Colour Explosion

Colour Explosion is here! Student booklets have headed home for our students’ major fundraiser for the year. Not only is this a special event for us as we get to have fun but it’s our way of securing much needed funds to be able to give back to school. It was a great success last year, so let’s do it again and help our teachers with their wishes for 2023. Sign up your profile at https://myprofilepage.com.au

School Disco

School Disco was amazing!! We had over half of the school again attend and have a fantastic time. We were again so overwhelmed with your support that our sales for the night matched that of last year! A massive thank you to you all especially the parents who stood patiently in line for the kids, we could not have anticipated your huge efforts and for that we are super grateful. How awesome is DJ Jordan! Was great to have him back again this year mixing it with the kids on the dance floor.

To all of our parent volunteers, there were 50+ of you, thank you so much for all of your help. From our dad’s on the bbq, to mums and grandparents manning the glow and candy bar, first aiders, floor monitors and those on the door, disco would not be as successful without your help during the night, so THANK YOU!

We are super pleased to announce this year disco made an amazing $4200 profit from the night. So not only did the kids have an amazing time we’ve been able to fund more of the teachers wish list this year which is a fantastic result.

Book Fair is Coming!

Watch this space! 31/10 to 4/11/22.

Term 4 will be the start of the Summer Menu. Over the school holidays we will be doing a relook at the menu and prices. The income from our sales only needs to sustain our own overheads and what’s required to run the canteen running successfully. Notes will come home in the first week of term 4 to update our school families. Wednesday Specials will continue in term 4 and will be are available to order via Qkr and advertised on the P&C FB page the Sunday prior.

Week 4 of term 4 is Book Week and with it the return of our Book Week Special Menu, Fairy Bread Day Special is also then in Nov and there will be heaps more! Join the P&C page on Fb to keep up to date.

Emergency lunches happen from time to time and we will never let a student go hungry. If your child comes home with a note from the canteen, the amount can be paid cash the next day or on Qkr via the accounts to pay menu.
