From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for a wonderful start at Landsdale Primary School. I will be walking around our fantastic school every morning and afternoon trying to meet as many families as I can. Please feel welcome to come up and introduce yourself to me if you see me around the school. Connecting with the community and getting to know all about our school is my first focus. I am also very much looking forward to attending the P&C meeting in Week 3 as this is a wonderful opportunity for me to hear about our school through our parents perspective.
I was lucky enough to be invited by the Year 6 Ministers to attend their leadership meeting this week. It was wonderful to listen to their leadership journey, their ideas for whole school events and making our values more visible at assemblies. I look forward to being able to work with the Year 6 Ministers, as well as the Year 6 Committees, throughout the rest of the year. Building leaders of the future is a passion of mine and I’m very eager to learn more about the Landsdale Student Leadership programs and opportunities.
I have also been visiting classrooms this week to introduce myself to the students. If I haven’t been to your child’s classroom yet please let them know it will be before the end of the week. It is such a highlight and joy for me to join a new community and get to know the staff, students and community. I feel very excited and blessed to begin this new journey with all of Landsdale Primary School.

Walk to School Day
Friday 19th May is 'Walk to School Day'. We are encouraging all students and families to walk to school on this day. We are setting up some walking stations around the community to walk to school together. We will have a staff member at the following designated points at 8.10am ready to walk to school in a group. Landsdale shopping centre-near the pharmacy to meet Mrs Bracegirdle (2), the top end of Warradale Park (Snake Lake- corner of Warradale Tce & Coverwood Prom) to meet Ms Woodhouse (1) and at Southmead roundabout corner of Sandison Way to meet Mrs Mattock (3). Each student who walks to school will go into a draw for an icy pole from the canteen. Looking forward to walking to school together on the 19th.
Congratulations to Simen from LA30 for being selected to compete in gymnastics in the State team competition in Queensland. We congratulate him on his achievement and wish him all the best for the competition.
Third Party Permissions Survey
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Over the next few weeks we will be seeking your approval for your child to be given access to multiple third party services that would facilitate and support their learning in the classroom. The services are not department managed as they have been provided by third party vendors. Each of the third party services we use have been assessed and approved for use in WA public schools by the Department of Education.
To implement them we need to provide some personal information about your child and we are seeking to gain your consent to do so. The information provided to third parties varies between the different providers, the information provided have been listed below each individual service for your convenience.
When providing consent, it is important that you are aware of what type of information we will be providing, how it will be used, and where it will be stored. If you do not provide consent, your child will not have access to the third party applications.
Please note that, given the significant education benefits that these services provide, the school will contact you to discuss your reasons should you not consent or fail to provide a response.
Please look out for the forms link on your ClassDojo message board in the next few weeks. If you have any queries, please contact one of the deputies.
Mother’s Day Stall 2023
We are excited to bring you this year’s Mother’s Day Stall on Friday 12th May (and Tuesday 9th May for Kindy A rotation).
We know how much the kids love coming to do a bit of ‘shopping’, so make sure students bring along $6 to buy your Mum, Caregiver or special lady in your life a lovely gift for Mother’s Day. We will also have cards for $1.00.
We are also looking for volunteers to help on the day. If you are interested please message Nerissa on 0432 326 584.

P&C News – Roadwise
Each term has designated year groups for parents to volunteer for a session to help Kiss N Drive in the afternoon. Parents are able to forward plan their session into the year and change as required.
Please note that the Kiss N Drive is not just the responsibility of the school, the Kiss N Drive is outside school grounds and is not the responsibility of the school to run, that's where parents and volunteers come in.
The roster updates in real time which makes changes immediately allowing the roster to look after itself.
A link to the roster is below. The Roadwise Committee will do the first week of each term as we return to school. Thursday of the first week will double as a training session for those who wish to see how easy it is before you do your own.
All parents participating that term will go into a raffle to win one of two $10 vouchers for the canteen and don’t forget you also have the use of a staff car park on the day you volunteer for Kiss N Drive. If you find it as easy as you thought it would be, roster in for a second or third session for more entries into the draw!!
This was Kiss N Drive's first major change to how it’s been run in the school’s 24 year history and has been running for a couple of years now. The committee was so excited to spread the word and see this grow year on year after much planning and to have it be so successful was an extra win.
Now it’s over to the parents of 2023 to help even ‘just once’ to make it a success.
Contact our Roadwise Coordinator for any questions on email@example.com
Please help us to spread the word by sharing and talking to each other about the roster. Parent Link will help to remind year groups through the year to communicate this to all our families as well. Our year 1 & 5 parents are up for term 2.
Term 1 – Year 2 & 6
Term 2 – Year 1 & 5
Term 3 – Year All Years
Term 4 – Year 3 & 4
Note all Years’ Time slots / Schedules are available so would be great to see the schedule fill up.

Our network connects over 500 families and individuals from more than 40 language backgrounds. In the past 10 years we have provided support for families who speak Afrikaans, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Cantonese, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Farsi, Finnish, French, German, Gujarati, Greek, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Macedonian, Malay, Malayalam, Mandarin, Mongolian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Samoan, Serbian, Spanish, Swahili, Swiss-German, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Turkish, Vietnamese besides various dialects of the relevant languages.
Most families have pre-school or school-aged children and we are experiencing similar issues while raising our children in more than one language. We also work together with professionals who share information on bilingualism and multilingualism. We can probably put you in touch with people who speak your language.
City of Wanneroo – Bin Sticker Competition
Following on from the success of previous years’ “Bin Sticker Competition” we are excited to invite students at your school to participate in our upcoming design competition. The competition is open to all students and aims to encourage creativity, environmental awareness, and community involvement.
The competition requires students to plan, design and create a persuasive poster that will be turned into bin stickers for bins in the parks and along the coast. This project provides a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their artistic talents and demonstrate their commitment to environmental responsibility. It is also a great way to engage students in a fun and meaningful activity that supports their academic growth.
Please see the attached poster. The size of the sticker will be A3 in size, so you may choose to either print off the template in this size, or complete as an A4 and we will do the enlarging.
Entries close 5pm, Wednesday 19th July 2023.
