Wanneroo Christmas Day Lunch 2023
From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,
At Landsdale Primary School we value and respect the important relationship we have between home and school. We are partners in your child/children’s learning every day!
Parents can support learning at home by taking an interest in their child's learning, helping with homework activities or by encouraging and praising academic success.
Parental involvement in supporting learning at home offers numerous benefits to a child's education, including increases in student engagement and academic achievement. Taking an interest and praising academic achievement help impart to children the value in education. Subsequently, students are more likely to take responsibility for their learning, have enhanced motivation and aspirations and improved academic outcomes.
Below are some suggested ways that parents and carers can help children succeed at school:
- Develop a partnership with your child's teachers and school staff:
- This includes getting to know your child’s teacher, the school leadership team and other staff that are involved in your child’s education.
- Attend parent information sessions, meetings and whole school events as much as possible.
- Support your child academically:
- Find out how your child is going in class and act early if they need some additional support.
- Work with the school to access additional services and support if needed.
- Read with your child as much as possible to model learning and a love of reading.
- Help your child as much as you can with any homework they may have and show and interest in their learning.
- Get involved with your child's school:
- Learn about our school and what we have to offer students.
- Volunteer if you can at school and build further relationships with school staff.
- Get informed and be an advocate for your child:
- Ask questions if something is concerning you. We are always here to support our students and families.
- Support your child's learning at home:
- Demonstrate a positive attitude about education to your children.
- Monitor your child’s television, gaming and internet use as inappropriate content is far more accessible now than when we were growing up.
- Read, Read and Read! Please encourage your child to read anything at all they are interested in!
- Talk with your child because talking and listening play a major role in children’s school success.
- Encourage your child to use the school library and local library.
- Encourage your child to be responsible and develop the skills to work independently. You can do this by breaking down big tasks into smaller achievable tasks and building on this every day.
- Encourage active learning which involves asking and answering questions, solving problems and exploring their interests. This helps children to be more successful at school.
We are responsible for developing moral citizens of the world and for the next generation. Thank you for being our partners in building such wonderful humans of the world.
Kindest regards,
Ms Kerryn Woodhouse

We would like to thank Mrs Michelle Wolski, Mrs Erin Rietman and Mrs Sonya March for organising and running such a brilliant Book Fair. It was a wonderful opportunity for the whole school community to come together over a shared love of books and reading.
Thank you to every student, parent, grandparent and staff member who purchased items from the Book Fair. Your support was much appreciated. Due to your generosity, our students are already reaping the benefits in the form of exciting new books to read in the Library. Here are the final figures:

Commission Total: $3,433
(Commission Taken in Books from Book Fair: $1,929)
