Everyday Independence – Therapy Services
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Today we have honoured the service and sacrifice of our original ANZAC’s, generations of Australian servicemen and women who have defended our values and freedoms in wars, conflict and peace operations. ANZAC Day is one of our most important periods of national commemoration and I am proud to be the principal of a school where this incredible service has taken place.
The spirit of ANZAC is an intangible thing. It is unseen, unpredictable, an unquenchable thirst for justice, freedom and peace. However despite being intangible, the spirit of ANZAC is a cornerstone which underpins our Australian image, way of life and our heritage. When we think of the ANZAC spirit…. endurance, courage, ingenuity, good humour, larrikinism and mateship are the characteristics and qualities that make it so special and iconic.
I would like to thank Mr Gould, Mrs Gould, Mrs Herridge (Councillor for the City of Wanneroo) Mrs Santoro (Chair of Landsdale Primary School Board) and Lachlan Bridger (Former Landsdale Primary School Student and Airforce Cadet), our special guests, for being part of our service today. We place a high importance on continuing to build and strengthen the partnerships we have in our community and beyond….so thank you.
I would also like to thank Mrs Margaret Quirk MLA and Member for Landsdale and who was unfortunately unable to be here today. Your support for the school and our community is very much appreciated.
Thank you to Mr Driscoll and Mr Jelly for their organisation and coordination of our service today. Thank you to Mrs Hay-Hendry, Ms Wiltshire, Ms VanBerkel and Mrs Holland for our ANZAC displays including the poppy wall and art installation and thank you to Mrs Ellery for taking photos.
Also thank you to our teaching and non-teaching staff who have made today possible. Without people in a school environment that want to push the boundaries and go beyond we would not have the wonderful community events and services we do.
Thank you also to our wonderful students who showed incredible respect through our whole service and warmed my heart with your ANZAC Spirit.
This event was all about commemoration, respect and community so it is so important to acknowledge the community for attending and the community spirit we have at Landsdale Primary School. Today has been made even more special for the students and school community through your attendance.
Thank you.
Kindest regards,
Ms Kerryn Woodhouse

Before and After School Safety
Before school:
To maintain the safety of our students whilst on school grounds we ask that all children are standing with the adult who is dropping them off at school until doors open. If your child is in year 1 to year 6 and they arrive at school before 8.30am without adult supervision, it is expected they go to Bandicoot Hollow where they will be supervised. Children should not be playing on any of the play equipment. Once the classroom doors open, we encourage the children to gather their own items: reading folders, crunch and sip and drink bottles and place these items independently into the appropriate places in the classroom.
After school:
At the end of the school day, we ask that all families move off school grounds as promptly as possible. If your children are wishing to play on the playground, please move outside of the school gates and access the nature playground by the school oval.
Kindergarten Enrolments for 2025
If your child is born between 1st July 2020 and 30th June 2021 Kindy enrolments for 2025 are now open and the application period closes on Friday 19th July, 2024. Application forms are available from our website or the front office. For existing Kindy students going into Pre-primary, no action needs to be taken – you will be contacted in May regarding a position.

Basketball Competition
Congratulations to our 3 basketball teams who recently attended the East Perth School Slam Series.
This was the first time we fielded a girls team with the crew working hard to learn the game from scratch before putting in a tremendous effort at their first competition. They came away with 1 win and 3 narrow losses.
Our Boys A team went undefeated all day before winning tense semi & grand finals, qualifying them again for the State Champions Cup likely to be held later this year.
Our Boys B team finished their run with a win after a few tough losses. This was the first school competition for the entire team, with many being Year 5’s so we are excited to see their progress next year.
We were incredibly impressed with the level of sportsmanship and team spirit evident from all of our students from start to finish. They represented themselves and their school tremendously and should be so proud of their efforts!
Monday Morning Running Club
Congratulations to Lachie F for hitting 400 laps & Ruben H for reaching a school record of 500 laps for the Monday Morning Running Club!
Roadwise Information
Traffic Warden Reminder
Our wonderful Traffic Warden on Southmead Drive, Lynne, has requested when using Southmead Drive for your Kiss and Drive, please do not park over the cross walk in the afternoon moving forward to continue around the roundabout. Please stop at the first bollard and white line.
It’s very difficult and not safe for the Traffic Warden to move around the cars that have parked over the crosswalk while waiting to move forward, and definitely not safe for the children to cross.
Stop at the first white line before the red and white bollard going towards the cross walk.
Keep your speed to 40km in the school zone.
Library News … with Mrs Murray
WA Young Readers’ Book Award
It’s WAYRBA time again! The WA Young Readers’ Book Award is an annual event that encourages children to read and vote on a range of short-listed books by top authors and illustrators. The Library now has a display of these books, on the slat wall area. Children can borrow the WAYRBA books and vote on them by filling out the voting slip inside the book cover. They can keep the bookmark that is inside the book. Voting can also be done online. This year’s titles are suitable for all age levels and reading abilities. We would love to see all our borrowers reading and voting on the WAYRBA list of 30 books.
From now until the end of September, we are offering an incentive for students to participate in this event. Every time they read and vote on one of the Award books, their name goes into the draw to win a Scholastic Book Club voucher to the value of $25. The prize will be drawn when voting closes at the end of September. Please return completed voting slips to Mrs Murray in the Library, so the votes can be recorded and entered into the draw.

Mothers’ Day Stall 2024
We are excited to bring you this year’s Mothers’ Day Stall on Friday 10th May (and Tuesday 7th May for Kindy A rotation).
We know how much the kids love coming to do a bit of ‘shopping’, so make sure students bring along $6 to buy their Mum, Caregiver or special lady a lovely gift for Mothers’ Day. We will also have cards for $1.00 (until stocks last).
We are also looking for volunteers to help on the day. If you are able to help, please sign up here:
If you are interested in organising next year’s Mothers’ Day or Fathers’ Day stalls, or have any questions, please message Nerissa on 0432 326 584.
