From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to an amazing Term 3! Term 3 is a fantastic term filled with so many whole school events for our students and community as well as opportunities to give back to the wider community. Here is a snapshot of what is ahead:
- On Friday the 2nd of August we will be fundraising for Jeans for Genes Day by asking all of our community to wear jeans and donate to the Children’s Medical Research Institute. We look forward to raising money for a very important cause as well as seeing all of our community support.
- On the 16th of August we have our LPS Sport’s Carnival which is an absolutely incredible day for our students, staff and community. Please keep your fingers crossed for blue, sunny skies like last year! Jumps, throws and distances races will be held on Monday the 12th of August.
- This term we celebrate Book Week 2024 in Week 6. The theme for 2024 is ‘Reading is Magic’. All week our students are immersed in literacy and the love of reading. The week is also celebrated with our Book Week Parades on Friday the 23rd of August. This is such a magical day with our students and staff all dressed up! This year we will also be encouraging parent and community participation with a parent/carer parade too. So if you are inspired to dress as your favourite book character or theme please join us. Of course we would love as many of our families there even if you don’t come in a costume. Our admin and office staff will again perform a book play and delight in performing (as best as we can) for our students, staff and community.
- We also have our Learning Journey on the 4th of September. This is a wonderful whole school event that showcases the incredible learning experiences our students are engaged in and the pride they have in their schooling experiences.
Along with our whole school events this term we also have interschool cross country on the 1st of August, National Science Week activities happening all through Week 4, Year 6 transition day with Ashdale Secondary College in Week 5, our Year 5/6 engagement program happening all through Term 3, our Year 6 leaders will attend day camp in Week 9 as well as interschool jumps, throws and carnival in Week 9.
As I am sure you can see, this term at Landsdale Primary School we really are engaging our students and community in cross-curricular activities and events that make our school so wonderful and continue to build our positive culture.
I look forward to the term together.
Kind regards,
Kerryn Woodhouse

Art News … with Mrs Holland
Artist in Residence
This term the Year 6 art extension students will be working with artist Olive Cheng to create a mural for the Kiss and Drive Shed. The artwork will consist of National flowers from around the world. We are a diverse community with many different cultures and we hope to represent as many countries as we can. Flowers will be bold and bright, focusing on simple designs. Our artist Olive, shared her artist style with the students and guided them to draw and paint the flowers.
We will start this week by preparing the surface and painting the undercoat! We are super excited to be working with Olive and can’t wait to reveal the finished product!
