Murdoch University After School Program in Mathematics and Physical Sciences
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to a very busy term 4.
We are excited to welcome our 2025 Kindy students to begin visiting the school this term. Yesterday families were invited to attend Storytime in the library where the children enjoyed Mrs Taylor reading The Very Cranky Bear, before collecting their special library bag and free book from the City of Wanneroo. In the coming weeks, children will also have the opportunity to ‘Pop in & Play’ in the Kindy classrooms.
Our year 6 students are off on camp next week from Monday to Wednesday. This is aways a highlight for our senior students and we know that they will have a wonderful time. Our year 6 students are also organising a fundraiser on Friday November 1st, where students are invited to wear crazy socks/crazy hair to school, for a gold coin donation. Beach swimming lessons are scheduled for our year 5 and 6 students for 8 days from Monday November 18th – Wednesday November 27th.
Our fabulous P&C are once again organising the annual Colour Explosion which is an absolute highlight for the whole school community. And, this year we will run our first end of year concert on Thursday December 5th from 1 – 3pm. This will be followed by a special Celebration Fair with activities and food trucks for all to enjoy.
Please check the School Calendar included in our newsletter for the full list of term 4 activities.
Thank you to all our families for your continuing support of all that happens at Landsdale Primary School.
Kindest regards,
Kerryn Woodhouse
Principal

Class Placement Requests
The school is now planning for classes and class structure for the 2025 school year. As you would imagine it is very difficult to predict enrolment numbers this far out from the beginning of next year.
Landsdale Primary School ensures classes are formed in such a way as to best meet the needs of its students. The school spends a considerable amount of time creating its class structure which is based upon the professional judgements of staff with the aim of creating the best learning environment for each student. All factors are considered when making these judgements. The best interest of all students is paramount when making placement decisions.
Parents and carers may request a specific class placement through providing the school with educational reasoning behind this request. This may be in the form of specific information about their child’s learning needs that they believe the school may not be aware of. Such information would not include any requests regarding a particular individual teacher. Please be aware that these requests may be considered but not automatically accommodated. Please email Mrs Tania Burke tania.burke@education.wa.edu.au or send a letter marked ‘Private and Confidential’ to Mrs Burke by Friday 25th October 2024.
Class lists will be formed and then reviewed by all staff and submitted to the Executive Team for further review. Following this, any changes to class placement will only be made in exceptional circumstances, however this tends to be extremely rare.
2025 Kindergarten Enrolments
Please see the front office urgently if you still wish to enrol for Kindergarten next year.
Students Not Returning to LPS in 2025
If your child(ren) will NOT be attending Landsdale Primary School in 2025 can you please advise the front office in person, or email Jennifer.shepherd@education.wa.edu.au

Year 6 Market Stalls
As part of an integrated Economics unit, Year 6 students are preparing market stalls to run in Week 6 on Tuesday (12th November).
A key theme for stall ideas this year is being sustainable (reducing emissions and packaging/plastic), and keeping costs down within a $10 budget. Students are being encouraged to use donated or recycled/reused items and make their products, rather than buying these with packaging from shops.
One of the LA 29 groups is hoping to run a home-made lemonade stand. As lemons are really expensive, we were hoping that some of our wonderful, generous Landsdale families (with abundant lemons from their lemon tree!!) would be willing to donate some lemons for us from early November and by 11 November at the latest.
If you are able to supply Lewis, Gabe, Andre and Antoni with lemons for squeezing for fresh, home-made, delicious lemonade, please email Mrs Marrion at Ella.Marrion@education.wa.edu.au.
We would be very grateful for your contributions!
Mrs M, Lewis, Antoni, Gabe and Andre (LA 29).

Summer Menu Update
We are super excited to be back in term 4 with our summer menu which sees the return of our fresh fruit salads and the kid’s favourite slushy. We also have our freshly prepared salads which are full of yummy healthy ingredients, perfect for a hot summer’s day.
We will continue offering our Wednesday special homemade lunch that changes weekly to keep things fresh and exciting for the kids. Check our Facebook page every Sunday for details.
Due to supplier price changes, prices for some menu items have been adjusted. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your support.
Shout out for volunteers!
Currently, we are looking for another volunteer to help pick up our sushi order on Thursday mornings in term 4. If you can lend a hand, please contact Sue in the canteen. Your support will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your ongoing support.
