30 June 2016
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
We had a tremendous response to our values question, so thank you. Your opinions will be used by the School Board in creating our vision statement. Incidently, the values that you and the board have been talking about are a summary of the school’s brilliant i-Values. Indeed, your nominated values strengthen the school’s use of the i-Values.
So, why are we doing all of this? The aim is to have more community input into the school. So that you feel like you are a part of the decision-making process. Feels good, doesn’t it? It is about parents and the school working together in strengthening our school.
The Department of Education has done some filming of how teachers and education assistants work with students with autism. This is an acknowlegement of the strong work that your school does for students who need that little extra support.
Regards,
Tony Beswick

Music Notes … with Miss Rogerson

Week 9 was an exciting and busy week for the Arts program at Landsdale. On Tuesday evening we had many of our School of Instrumental Music students performing at the Ashdale Mid-Year Concert, and on Thursday morning 40 choir students performed at the annual Cluster Muster at Ashdale Secondary College.
Mid-Year Music Concert
On Tuesday 21st June, thirteen of our Year 6 School of Instrumental Music students performed at the Mid-Year Music Concert at Ashdale Secondary College. The performance featured a collection of small ensembles and groups from the college, and cluster primary schools. A big thank you and congratulations to the following students who performed:
Guitar: Priya R, Ava F, Isabella F, Olivia H and Phaelan P.
A special mention to Isabella F who performed a solo!
Clarinet: Ching L and Maddison L who performed a trio with their teacher Ms Newnham.
Trumpet: James B, Kaila F and Tyler P who performed Frère Jacques in a canon.
Also a congratulations to Ching, James, Kaila, Anniekah B and Tahlia W who performed in the Ashdale Secondary College Band.
Thank you to both students involved and parents who supported this event!
Cluster Muster
A big congratulations and thank you to all students involved in this year's Cluster Muster. The event (Thursday morning 23rd June) was a huge success, with almost 200 students from the Ashdale School Cluster coming together at Ashdale Secondary College to showcase the Arts in our schools. With a collection of bright costumes, fantastic dancing and beautiful singing, the Cluster Muster performance demonstrated an abundance of talent from each school and its students.
Landsdale Primary School performed two items: The Choir performed Taylor Swift's 'Mean', a song about overcoming bullying. The Extension Choir performed the Orff based piece 'Flying Man' using a short sung canon and incorporating an array of percussion instruments including xylophones, tapping sticks, tambourines and guiros.
Being new to this event, I was amazed at the maturity and enthusiasm of all students involved and especially proud of the manner in which the Landsdale students acted both in and outside of their performances.
Thank you to everyone involved.
Ms. Rogerson

July Holiday Loans
All library books borrowed by students and parents should now be returned for the close of Term 2 please. Borrowing will be closed on Friday 24th June. If your child still has outstanding library loans, can you please ensure that they are returned before school closes for the holidays. Students with overdue library books will not be able to borrow next term until these books are returned.
If your child has taken a holiday loan for the July break, these books are due back on the first day of Term 3
(Tuesday 19th July). They can also be renewed on this date.
Thank you to all our wonderful students and parents who have assisted in the Library during Term 2. Have a relaxing winter break and we look forward to welcoming you all back next term.

P&C President’s Report
As term 2 comes to an end, I would like to thank everyone who has volunteered their time this term. Whether you volunteer at Kiss and Drive, school banking or with fundraising. On behalf of the P&C thank you for your time, effort and commitment.
This term has been quite successful for the P&C as we have raised in excess of $8,000 for the school and have given the school more than $20000 to purchase their wishlist items. A massive thankyou to the parents, teachers and students who have supported the P&C and made it possible to hand over these funds for much needed resources, such as shade sails.
Next term, our upcoming fundraisers are the disco, faction carnival and calendar cards. Hopefully everyone has received a note about the disco this week. If not, there will be spares available at the front office. As always, the P&C are seeking more volunteers for various roles throughout the year. If you are able to spare some time, your help is always greatly appreciated so please contact me at anferguson1977@gmail.com
Also, don’t forget Landsdale Primary School P&C will be holding a sausage sizzle on Saturday on election day, so please pop down between 8am – 3pm and buy a snag and drink to support the school while you vote.
Our next meeting is being held in week 3 of next term. Everyone is welcome to attend so please come along.
Until next term, I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday.
