From the Principal

Dear Parents and Families,

The end of term is fast approaching. We have a few special events this week, helping hands free dress day on Tuesday and 50C frenzy book sale on this Thursday. The year 6 students are also going to be selling Milo for $2 on Thursday, to coincide with the book sale. Finally we have Walk to School Day on Friday. Thanks to the P&C for promoting this.

Congratulations to all those students who participated in the Legends of Landsdale event last week, it was great to see everyone actively participating.

Semester 1 reports go home this Thursday. Please take the opportunity to discuss with your child the achievement they have made over the semester.

School returns on Monday 17th July. Have a safe and happy holiday break.

Chaplain’s Chat

Hi School

I hope you have all had a wonderful Term 2 and enjoy the well-deserved cosy school holidays ahead!

As these school holidays are in the middle of winter and for those who are not getting away for the holidays, I thought I would encourage everyone with some ideas for activities you can do indoors with your children and their friends – let’s remember and use our Value of “I think creatively”!

Indoor activities can range from colouring to building forts, from playing board games to baking. They do not have to be costly or complicated; all you need are some of the things found around your home. Make me new food creations with your children or even have a day with a movie marathon and popcorn.

Ice-Skating is a great day outing and in Perth we have some wonderful sunny days where we can take a walk around one of our many lakes and have a picnic. Check out your local newspapers for advertising of local fun available.

I hope you all have an amazing break and I look forward to seeing you in Term 3.

P&C News – Walk to School Day – Friday 30th June

Join in the walk, ride or scooter to school day, grab a sticker at the gate from our volunteer year 6 helpers and enjoy an icy pole at lunch to say thanks from the P&C for being involved!

Walk to School day is celebrated to remind us of the importance of exercise and safety when doing so. As road users by either walking or driving, the rules of the road are important to keep us all safe. Parking in designated areas so those can walk safely around you to crossing the road holding hands and cycling with helmets are all things our children should be aware of. Take the time this week to have a chat with your kids and refresh them and even ourselves on the importance of safety on our roads. For more information check out the Walk to School Website

Visiting Bali?

Dear Parents and Community Members,

As many of you are aware, Landsdale Primary School has a sister school relationship with a school in Bali which was established almost 10 years ago. Over the years we have been involved in many different activities such as fund raising and penpal exchanges. By far the most rewarding part of this partnership for Landsdale students has been when their families have visited our sister school on their Bali holidays.

The school is called SD 2 Kaba Kaba and it is around 20 kilometres, or a 45 minute drive, from the heart of Kuta. It is found in the regency of Tabanan, one of Bali's main rice growing districts.

If you would like to pay them a visit and find out what a day (or even an hour or two) in the life of a Balinese child is like, feel free to contact me and I can help you arrange it. Alternatively you can contact the coordinator in Bali, Alit Widia at alitwidia@yahoo.com and he can help you sort it out. Pak Alit speaks English very well and some students might remember him from his visit to Landsdale Primary School a few years ago. Rest assured you will be made to feel very welcome.

Terima Kasih!
