14 December 2017
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
Do your children a favour and create a reading habit over the holidays. There is lots of research that suggests kids slip back in their ability to read over a holiday break. You can stop that decline by encouraging your children to read daily for 10-20 minutes just before tea time, or any other daily time so that it becomes a habit.
Goodbye to the Trentham Road kindergarten annex. Thanks to the staff and parents who made the annex such a welcoming place for children to grow.
Many thanks to Mrs Keera Bull and the School Board who have overseen the improvements in student results in 2017.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a marvellous festive season. Dashing through the sand, in a brand new four wheel drive, over bumps we go, laughing all the way…
Kind regards,
Dr Tony Beswick

Interschool Tennis at Sorrento Tennis Club
Congratulations to all the students that participated in the Sorrento Tennis Club tournament on Friday 1st December. All Landsdale students are to be congratulated for their sportsmanship and efforts throughout the day. There was some very strong competition from the other participating schools, but Landsdale held their own with some victories on the day.
Thank you to all the parents that come down and supported their children - it was great to see! A big thank you to Mr Ruscoe who came along and helped on the day also. Events like these continue to build the strong tennis culture at Landsdale and look forward to continuing this in 2018.

Cluster Friendly @ Kingsway
Also on 1st December, year 6 students competed with their peers from Ashdale PS, Carnaby Rise PS and Madeley PS in the annual Transition Cluster Games. All students participated well and it was great to see students making some new friends from the other cluster schools and meet some new classmates for 2018.
Good luck to all year 6 students in 2018.

Safe Swimming Message to all our Families
As summer approaches, we want students and families to enjoy our beautiful waterways; remembering to swim between the flags when at the beach and stay safe around the water.
Royal Life Saving’s recently released National Drowning Report shows that 280 people drowned in Australian waterways in 2015-16. This is a five per cent increase from the previous year. Each drowning death is a personal story, affecting families, rescuers and communities.
The Department of Education, Royal Life Saving WA and Surf Life Saving WA wish everyone a safe and fun summer holiday.
To find out more information about how you can be safe over the Christmas break visit:
With beach weather now here, Surf Life Saving WA is asking you to help your kids find the fun Between The Flags and stay beach safe by downloading their free Safety Beach game to ensure you know all the tips for staying safe between the flags this summer!
Kind regards
