From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
Currently, we are undergoing an election process for school board members because we had more nominations than parent places. This shows that the work of the school board is held in high esteem in our community. Your family will get one vote in the election process and information packages will be sent out soon.
Bullying seems to be an issue in all schools and the way in which a school deals with bullying is often the focus of attention. Given the relatively low levels of bullying in this school, we have gone on the front foot by talking about what bullying is and that some behaviour can be seen as bullying. At assemblies, I have talked about bystanders and messengers. Bystanders engage in bullying as they watch and support the bullying behaviour of others. Messengers are those who take a derogatory message to another student in an attempt to upset that person. Both of these bullying behaviours are not tolerated at our school.
To celebrate our wonderfully culturally diverse and rich local community, some Year 3 classes, along with some Kindy classes would like to invite students to come along to our Harmony Day Food Fest(ival) on Thursday 22nd March. For 50c or $1, students will be able to sample delicious, delectable and affordable foods and drinks (Mango lassi) from a range of cultures. All students will also be able to dress up in cultural clothing, wear orange (the official colour of Harmony Day), or wear school uniform. It is NOT a free dress day.
We will be selling food from 10.30 to 10.45am on Thursday 22nd March for younger students up to Year 2. Students in Years 3-6 will participate during normal recess. Parent helpers are most welcome to assist with set up, cleaning away and helping students to serve foods and handle change.
Money raised will be donated UNICEF to help the children in war-torn Syria.
For more information, contact Miss Herbert (LA 12), Mrs Marrion (LA 27), Mrs Caratti (Possum Kindy), Mrs Della Gatta.
Regards,
Dr Tony Beswick

Welcome to the 1-1 Program!
Thank you to all the parents who attended the parent workshops that introduced them to the basics of using a Macbook and the features that help them manage their child’s usage. A summary of what was covered is on the website 1-1 Program News.
Our website also has information and Frequently Asked Questions to assist you.
It is never too late to join the program and purchase a device for your child, the purchasing portal remains open all year. Please be aware that the minimum model of iPad is the iPad Air 2; however, our strong recommendation is the latest iPad. Both the recommended MacBook Air and iPad can be purchased from the Winthrop Portal.
Student Update Forms 2018
Student Information Update forms will be sent home over the next few weeks through your child’s classroom. Please check all details carefully. If you do have corrections, please return them to the front office as soon as possible. It is extremely important that we have the correct contact details in case of emergency.
Contributions and Charges 2018
Thank you to those parents who have paid their child’s contribution and charges for 2018. Monies collected from your contributions and charges enhance the learning program by the purchase of additional resources.
The In School Activities component is a compulsory charge and must be paid for your child/children to participate in planned incursions. We would appreciate payment of the In School Activity fee as soon as possible.
For your convenience, we accept Visacard and Mastercard (over the phone) and all EFTPOS transactions over the counter, along with cash and cheque. We also accept Direct Debit. The details are: BSB 066-132 Account 10249789 (Student’s Full Name must be included in the Reference).
Coles Sports for School Vouchers
We are collecting vouchers! Please drop off folded vouchers to the front office. The collection box is located just inside the front door.
Student Achievement
We would like to congratulate Austin S (LA31) who was selected to represent the Wanneroo Joondalup Teeball Club at the 2018 Tee Ball State Championships. Well done Austin!
On the Ball …. With Mr P
Interschool Cricket
Good luck to the students competing in the T20 Blast at Kingsway Sporting Complex tomorrow Friday, 9th March. Mr Brown will be travelling with the selected students.
Faction Shirts
As in previous years, students are encouraged to wear their faction t-shirt on Phys Ed days and/or if they are involved in middle or senior sport activities. Faction tokens will be given out for the faction wearing the most shirts as well as behaviour in Phys Ed and other sporting activities. A prize will be given out to the faction with the most tokens at the end of the term.
Changing the Game
A few weeks ago I attended a terrific seminar about parenting through sport entitled “Changing the Game: Parenting Through Sport”. The seminar spoke about giving children positive, healthy and rewarding experiences while playing junior sport.
More details about the project can be found at the link below.

Chaplain’s Chat
Hi school - with one long weekend behind us and another to go, I thought I would remind you all about the i-Value "I think Creatively".
Thinking creatively about what games, hobbies, projects and fun things that can be done at home.
Thinking creatively about how to join others into your games and creating games that include others.
For families to think creatively about fun ways to spend long weekends, making family moments that create lasting memories.
Picnics, fort building, games day or night, no technology day (or a couple of hours if a day is too long), painting, walk in the hills or something that you come up with together.
Enjoy being creative!

Wheelers eBooks and Audiobooks
We are constantly updating our eLibrary with new titles.
All Landsdale Primary students can access our wonderful Digital Library 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Every child has a User Name and Password which allows them to browse, borrow and reserve eBooks and audiobooks on the Digital Library. Find our Digital Library at the link below.
https://landsdaleps.wheelers.co/
You can also download the Wheelers eBook platform from the App Store.
Each child will soon be issued with a laminated coloured strip with their User Name and Password typed on. Please ensure your child keeps this in a safe place.
Your child’s User Name follows the format:
Firstname.Lastname eg: Sharon.Murray
Their Password is a generic one: Library1 (same for all students).
If you need assistance to access our Landsdale Digital Library, please see Mrs Murray in the Library.
THANK YOU, PARENTS!
We had an overwhelming response to our request for assistance with book covering! Thank you to all our parents who took books home to cover. These new releases are now available for our students to borrow.

We always have a busy start to the year and 2018 is no exception – Colour Fun Run booklets have been sent home.
Easter Raffle is on Thursday 29th March, welcoming all Easter donations at the schools front office and the Road Wise colour leaflet being sent home this week to each family has been kindly photocopied by Anne Aly.
Our P&C community appreciates that not everyone can always participate in everything we strive to provide. Almost all are anniversarised, please don’t feel pressured to do them all, we welcome and encourage you to support those events that you and your children are excited for!
