7 June 2018

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Families,

It is student report time, again. Your child receiving a grade of ‘C’ indicates that there has been satisfactory progress achieved. Fewer students will receive a ‘B’ grade and, inevitably, an ‘A’ grade is achieved less frequently. Also, your child’s grades may change over time as the work gets harder as he/she progresses through schooling.

Your role is to celebrate what your child has achieved. On the other hand, if you are concerned about your child’s learning progress, you should make an appointment with the appropriate teacher.

The school board has decided to maintain the school’s vision statement for the next business plan. That being: we focus on innovation and creativity to produce students who are engaged and strive to be successful. We work together to develop students who are respectful, resilient, honest and embrace the strength in diversity. In particular, we will begin to shift our focus to the second sentence while maintaining the solid progress achieved by the first sentence.

Regards,

Dr Tony Beswick
Principal

Chaplain’s Chat

Hi School,

I was thinking of the I-Value "I think Clearly" - how do we do this?

When we are worried, upset, tired, hungry or just maybe bored, we find it so hard to think clearly.

Our teachers, admin staff and myself do what we can to help students feel safe and happy at school, creating a space for them to think clearly.

And as parents, we find sports, get them to bed early, pack good lunches and other creative ways to help our children be fit, happy and healthy at school so that they can think more clearly.

I found a great website that can maybe assist in this, shared below.

Early morning risers can do some fun exercises to get the day going or while we are making dinner, get them to watch a video online and show us their new moves or before trying to get homework done.

This is just one of many creative things, using the I-Value "I think creatively" ourselves, we can do to help our children think more clearly.

Chat soon,

Natasha Reynolds

JAMES FOLEY AUTHOR VISIT

WHAT A FUNNY MAN!

WHAT A FANTASTIC AUTHOR & ILLUSTRATOR!

Last week, all classes from Year 1 to Year 6 had so much fun with our visiting author/illustrator, James Foley. He talked to us about his books, his drawings and how he started out as a writer in pre-primary with his first book “All About Me.” James loved drawing and writing books, so he made it his career. James lives and writes in Fremantle and his books are published by Fremantle Press. We have some of James' books in our Library, however they are in very high demand, due to everyone meeting James and loving what he does. Our students can't wait to read more of James' books. Everyone will have a chance to order his books through Westbooks. These books will be autographed by James. Please return your completed James Foley book order forms (with credit card details) to the Library

P&C News – Entertainment Book

By now you have received your book home. Thanks to those who have either already ordered a membership or returned your book. We have raised over $1000 to date and are well on our way to meet our target. Feel free to share our school’s link to your friends and family who would like to order a book and support our school. Funds raised are going to the School’s wish list and towards the extension of the nature playground for year 3s and 4s.

And congratulations go out to Mr P (who was actually the first person to buy a book this year). He recently won an online competition with Entertainment Book winning one night at Hyatt Regency Perth in an elegantly appointed Guest Room including buffet breakfast for two. All he had to do was to comment with what he loved about his Entertainment Book membership. Its great that someone from our school community won.

Landsdale Primary School is fundraising with the Entertainment fundraiser this year, and we’d appreciate your continued support.

Your 2017 | 2018 Entertainment Membership is expiring on 1 June 2018. Please continue supporting our School by purchasing the 2018 | 2019 Entertainment Membership from us today. Hundreds of great value offers are ready for your enjoyment, while also helping our fundraising!

“I love the savings we accumulate by using our Entertainment Vouchers. I always use them ...have them in my wallet and am elated to "buy one get one free" or get 25% off...it gives me a real buzz. After reaching the price of the book it's even more rewarding. Always buy one every year!” – Ann M
