From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
The NAPLAN results have finally been received by the school. The Year 3 students have done very well, in particular in numeracy being well above what is expected at that year level. The Year 5 students likewise have done well and are succeeding at the expected standard. More details next term.
The Italian Day was fantastic last Monday. Many students had written to Ashdale Primary School students in Italian. Then there was the food tasting, which was amazingly well received! Mrs Belinda Scott did a great job in organising the day and liaising between both schools. Thanks to the parents who helped on the day.
Some brilliant work has been done by Mr Puccinelli, Mr Brown, and teachers in developing the skills of students in preparation for the interschool carnival. Wonderful sportsmanship was displayed by all students.
Teachers are now constructing class lists for 2019. We are seeking your advice in terms of any information that could assist us. This information should concern clashes your child has with others, perceived bullying or family issues. Please email Tania.Burke@education.wa.edu.au or send a letter marked ‘Private and Confidential’ to Tania by Thursday 1st November, 2018.
Regards,
Dr Tony Beswick

Sustainability and Waste Minimisation at Landsdale Primary School
We are very excited to announce that earlier this term we were successful in our application for a $4000 Waste Wise Schools Grant. The grant will provide funding to further develop our worm farms, purchase additional raised garden beds, promote the Nude Food initiative in the school, and increase an awareness of decreasing the amount of rubbish going to landfill generally.
In addition, the school will be hosting a mini “Sustainability Expo” on Tuesday 23rd October 2018. Our preliminary plans are to have opportunities for parents and local community members to visit some of the class based sustainability programs occurring in the school, and then participate in a range of workshops and information sessions run by some local agencies, including Wasteless Pantry, Boomerang Bags and Tamala Park. More information will follow at the beginning of term 4.
For any further information, please contact Leonie Mattock on 9302 4100 next term.

2018 Interschool Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all the students that competed in the interschool athletic events last week. Landsdale competed with much spirit and it was fantastic to see all the students demonstrating great sportsmanship and cheering everybody on.
Thanks to Mr Moon from Madeley Primary School for organising such a smooth event.
I would also like to thank the students who gave up their lunch times to attend try outs and practised very early in the term and the teachers that assisted with this training, in particular Mr Brown and Mrs Ridley. Your help was much appreciated!
