From the Principal

Dear Parents and Families,

The parent representatives program has gone from strength to strength thanks to the dedication of parents. The school does listen to that parent group throughout the year. This has led to greater communication and ideas being used by the school. Thank you to all those parents who have contributed.

The painting inspirational quotes on senior students’ toilet doors have been a winner. The quotes were carefully chosen to encourage stronger beliefs in students. The school thanks the Year 6 students as they contributed to the buying of the materials as their parting gift to the school. It showed inspirational behaviour on their part.

Regards,

Dr Tony Beswick
Principal

1-1 Program 2019

Thank you to all the parents who attended our Parent Information and discussion forums. They were well attended and we had really productive discussions. If you still have questions please visit the Frequently Asked Questions page of our website.

Not long now until the start of the next program for the Year 4’s in 2019 and any new or existing students who join, it’s never too late!

Early Term One we will run parent workshops on MacBook basics and the use of the Parental Control feature to set time limits like bedtime for your child’s laptop use. If you want to learn now, the Apple website is a great resource: Get to know your Mac

We partner with Winthrop Australia to obtain the best educational prices and onsite technical support. They provide a convenient and easy online portal for you to order a device for your child. If you source a device elsewhere consider the portal information to compare accurately.

Once ordered the device will be delivered to your home over the holidays or to school during school terms. Students can bring them to school where our technicians will configure them for our network and additional software then return them to your child.

The Year 4 students will not require the device in the first week, their teachers will inform you when to bring them. In that week teachers begin setting acceptable use agreements and begin the focus on online safety.

Library News

LIBRARY BORROWING CLOSES

The Library will close for the 2018 school year, as of FRIDAY 30th NOVEMBER. All library books borrowed by students, parents and staff are due back by FRIDAY 30th NOVEMBER. There will be no further borrowing after this date. Holiday loans are not available over the Christmas holiday break. Your local library is a great resource during this period. The final two weeks of term (Week 9 & 10) are very busy in the Library, as all library resources are being returned, scanned, checked off, accounted for, repaired and shelved. Please assist us by returning your library books on time. If you have lost a book, please pay for it at the Front Office before school closes on Friday 14th December. Year 6 students are required to return their library books before Graduation on Wednesday 12th December. Thank you for your assistance.

Registrations are now open for the next Better Health Program running at the Herb Graham Recreation Centre in Mirrabooka, Term 1, 2019.

Funded by the Department of Health, The Better Health Program is a FREE healthy lifestyle program delivering fun, interactive sessions supporting children aged 7-13 years and families to adopt healthy attitudes to food and nutrition, to encourage regular exercise, make informed food choices and learn essential health skills and knowledge.

Children and their families become fitter, healthier and happier as they have fun, meet new friends and learn new skills to establish and maintain healthier lifestyles.
