From the Principal

Dear Parents and Families

The school contributions and booklists were approved by the School Board at their last meeting. You would be pleased to note that school contributions have slightly increased in line with inflation. There also have been some reductions in the cost of the booklists and the school will not collect a commission that traditionally went back to buying student materials.

During this term there are some of the school leadership team going on long service leave or adopting the role of an Acting Principal in another school. At Landsdale, Mrs White and then Mrs Di Sisto will be the Acting Principals in my absence from mid-week 4 until the end of the year. Mr Hayward will extend his tenure of Deputy Principal. Mrs McLeod has replaced Mrs Bracegirdle and Mrs Di Sisto. These leaders will ensure that the school will run smoothly and serve the needs of your children.

Teachers will soon be constructing class lists for 2020. We are seeking your advice in terms of any information that could assist us. This information concerns clashes that your child has with others, perceived bullying or family issues but not selection of a teacher for your child. Please email Tania.Burke@education.wa.edu.au or send a letter marked ‘Private and Confidential’ to Tania by Thursday 31st October, 2019.

The school fete is coming!

Regards

Dr Tony Beswick
Principal

2020 1-1 Laptop Program

Is your child entering Year 4 in 2020 or are you considering joining your year 5 or 6 child into the 1-1 program? Read on!

Our parent funded 1-1 Laptop program ensures our students have the best opportunities to acquire essential skills in digital technologies and STEM for their future. We recognise and value the parents of our senior students’ commitment to their children’s education.

In 2019 parents had the option of choosing the MacBook Air 13” or the iPad for the program. Teachers, students and the School Board all strongly recommended the MacBook as the school’s preferred device.

We partner with Winthrop Australia to obtain the best educational prices and onsite technical support. They provide a convenient and easy online portal for you to order a device for your child. If you source a device elsewhere consider the portal information to compare accurately. Visit the Winthrop Portal for more information. For security reasons you will need a passcode to access the Portal which will be in the information package that will be sent out after the first parent information forum, or if ordering earlier please contact the school for the code.

Prior to purchasing a device, please attend one of our parent information sessions for more information and discussion with our 1-1 leadership team:

The first Parent Information Forum is on Tuesday 12th of November. The time will either be 7.45am or 4-5pm depending on the results of the survey below. Please take the survey and indicate all the times and dates you would be available to attend, we will inform you through Class Dojo which time most parents can attend.
