5 December 2019
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
I would like to thank all the parent representatives for the Parent Link Program - it has become an important part of the school’s communication and parent support processes.
Thank you to also to the parents who have attended the Parent Information Forums for your feedback and positive support for the 1-1 Program. If you have any further questions or feedback on the program please contact the school.
The Fete last week was an enormous success and showed how supportive our community is and how hard our wonderful P&C work for our school. Thank you to all the people involved.
Currently, teachers are completing reports, which are a culmination of what has occurred throughout semester 2. Your child achieving a ‘C’ grade means that his/her learning is on track of what can be expected. To make those judgements, we use the Department of Education’s samples of student work to judge the standard of each student. Reports will be emailed out in the last week of term, please make sure your email address is correct on our system, if in doubt send the office your email address to check.
I will be on leave as of tomorrow and Mrs Di-Sisto will be Principal for the rest of the term and the first term of 2020. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a Merry Christmas.
Regards
Ms Leanne White

2020 Parent Funded1-1 Laptop Program
Thank you to all the parents who attended our Parent Information forums. We had really productive discussions. The parents were really supportive of their child’s educational needs and understood the importance of learning to use technology safely and appropriately.
The main points that were discussed were:
- How we use the Mac books for learning tasks that promote original thinking, engagement and creativity but also reinforce mastery of skills and understanding. Instant feedback is also given to teachers and students for better progress.
- What procedures and plans are in place to teach students how to have a positive digital footprint and use technology ethically.
- While parents are able to choose an iPad for their child to join the program, our recommended device is the Macbook Air 13” as it is more powerful and versatile for learning situations, sturdier and connects more easily to the network.
- Parental controls and managing devices through a mobile device manager (MDM) for a safer and more monitored environment. The Macbook has better parental controls built in and the iPad would need the third party mobile device management (MDM) tool, which we use for our school iPads and could be provided at a small cost to parents.
- Information on the vendor and specifics about the program. The Portal is available for you to access pricing and device specifications information and order your device.
We partner with Winthrop Australia to obtain the best educational prices and onsite technical support. They provide a convenient and easy online portal for you to order a device for your child. If you source a device elsewhere consider the portal information to compare accurately. Visit the Winthrop Portal for more information. For security reasons you will need a passcode to access the Portal which will be in the information package that will be given to you at the parent information forum, or if you didn’t receive this, please contact the school for the code.
If you would like more information please visit our website for 1-1 Program news and FAQ or contact the school.

On the Ball …. With Mr P
Sorrento Tennis Club in School Tennis Tournament
What a great effort last Friday afternoon from Landsdale PS at the Sorrento Tennis Club school’s event. Landsdale finished 3rd overall in a pool of 6 and what a performance by our year 3’s to be champions of the Hot Shots year 3 division! As always, it was a fantastic atmosphere and almost every court was taken up by budding young tennis stars.
It was fantastic to see all the parents come down and support their children, and big thank you to the team supervisors, Mel Fuller, Premila Jesani, Lesley Bolton, Alan Atkin, Donna Reid and Mel Knight. Apologies if I have missed anyone.
Now for the State Tennis Centre next Wednesday! More details will be sent on this as they come to hand.

Interschool Handball
Congratulations to all the students that competed in the interschool handball competition on Friday, November 22. It was once again a fantastic day run by Mr Zyrucha at North Woodvale Primary School. It was Landsdale’s best result in some time, finishing overall runner-up and also winning the boys division.
Thanks to Mr Brown for his assistance in coaching and we look forward to competing once again in 2020.

Runners Club
Next Monday, December 9 will be the final session of Runners Club for this year. Thank you to all participants that have run, or even walked laps this year, it’s been a huge success! I will publish the list of runners and laps achieved in Dojo next week. The number of laps will carry over into 2020.
See you then.
Landsdale Sporting Shirts
Continuing our tradition this year, at all the events students represent Landsdale Primary School, representatives will wear a Landsdale PS ‘sporting shirt’ kindly donated by the P & C.
The students need to return the shirts once they have finished the event, they are participating in.
Thank you
Mr Puccinelli
