From the Principal
Dear Families,
I would like to thank you all for the continued support you have given the school this term. We started with some exciting plans for our students, along with several wonderful community events, that unfortunately due to current circumstances have been unable to go ahead. It has certainly been a term of unexpected twists and turns. On a positive note, our wonderful music teacher Emma Rogerson has put together, with the help of our Extension Vocal Group, an ANZAC Day celebration that will be available for families to view and enjoy on ANZAC day, via the school’s Facebook page.
As we move towards Term 2, and schooling through distance education, please maintain a connection to us through your child’s class teacher and the Class Dojo App. Keep regularly checking your mobile phone and email for notifications and information, and once again ensure your contact details are up to date with the office.
I will be communicating with families over the coming weeks through an emailed Parent Support Newsletter, the first of which you would have received yesterday. The purpose of the newsletter is to keep you up to date on the government’s and Department of Education’s plans for schools, and support parents during the distance learning journey.
As always, please refer to the WA Health Department website for up to date and accurate information on the Coronavirus.
http://www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/coronavirus
And also the Department of Education’s Learning at Home website for educational ideas and mental health and wellbeing links.

I wish all the Landsdale community a safe holiday break.
If you or anyone you know needs additional support during this time, please make contact with one of the following organisations.

First Day of Term 2, 2020 |
Distance Learning for Year 4-6 Students
Term 2 will begin with students undertaking distance learning from home. Students in K-3 will collect fortnightly hardcopy packages from their classes. Due to our 1-1 Program, Year 4-6 students will be able to access their learning online. While most Landsdale students in Year 4-6 are well placed to access, we are aware there will be challenges for a few students who normally use a school laptop.
To enable us to support all Year 4-6 students during distance learning in the most effective way, please take this survey.
Technical assistance during distance learning:
Students need access to technical help occasionally and at school they simply submit a ticket for their issue on our online Helpdesk and our technicians come and assess the problem in their class.
This support will continue as our technicians will still be onsite next term. Students, teachers and parents can still submit a ticket for a problem through our online helpdesk which can be found on the home page of our website.
The direct helpdesk link is:
http://portal.landsdaleps.wa.edu.au/help/lps/
Please make sure you include your email address, and any other contact details you wish to use, when filling out the ticket before you submit it.
The technicians will contact you via the email address you supply to let you know when to drop the laptop in to the school reception area for them to assess the problem. Please make sure the laptop is clearly labelled with your name and contact details.
They will then either fix the issue that day or if it needs further assessment from an Apple technician, they will organise them through Winthrop while keeping contact with you about the process.
Please ensure your child has backed up any data they want to keep before bringing in the laptop as the solution may include procedures that will wipe data from the machine. To back up their data they can copy it to an external drive or use time machine. Apple Australia has a support website with instructions and troubleshooting for many of the applications and utilities on the laptops if you need assistance with this.
We hope the transition to distance learning is a smooth one. Remember to put your family’s wellbeing first and rest assured we will be working with you to ensure you and your children’s distance learning experiences are positive ones.
