2 July 2020

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Families,

I would like to congratulate the Landsdale PS community for showing such resilience and compassion this term as we have all worked to minimise the impact of COVID-19 on families and particularly students. We look forward to new beginnings next term with a change in leadership and a back to basics approach around the school, re-focussing on curriculum and the teaching and learning program.

We have an exciting, whole school Art project happening for students and families at the beginning of next term. Keep an eye out for information coming home. All I can say is .… The Doors Are Coming! We will also be looking at ways to bring our school community back together again with events that will allow us all to re-connect with one another.

Mr Josh Jashari, the new school Principal, spoke with interested parents on Monday in the Library. He talked about his interest in building our student leaders, so that they have an understanding about leadership and what that means. He intends to speak with our Year 6’s early next term to gain an insight into how they can contribute to the culture of the school. Mr Jashari also spoke about critical thinking and its importance for academic success, and he is looking to building on the great work already being done at Landsdale Primary School.

The Year 6 fundraiser for the 'Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund' at Australian Red Cross, to help families affected by the recent bushfires, raised around $1066.20! Congratulations to all the students and staff who dressed in red and orange and donated to such a great cause.

I wish all our families a relaxing school holiday break, and encourage everyone to take time out over the next two weeks to enjoy the great outdoors and some physical activity, to clear the mind and refresh the body. For those families travelling please stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming you all back to school on Tuesday 21st July.

Happy Holidays!

Mrs Cass Disisto

Art News

I wanted to tell you about a strange event that happened in the Art room recently. One Wednesday afternoon the Year 6 art extension students were working hard when all of a sudden a white rabbit ran past saying over and over, ‘I’m late I’m late’! We were all quite perplexed and followed him and before we knew it we had fallen down a rabbit hole! We were falling for ages and when we landed (thankfully safely) we found a corridor of doors .... and that’s where the story really begins.

Watch this space.... the doors are coming, an art installation around Landsdale Primary School coming July 2020.

Library Borrowing Closed for Term 2

Over the past few weeks, it’s been terrific to see our students getting back into their regular reading habits, while enjoying borrowing from the Library again. We ask that all Term 2 loans now be returned. If your child has taken out a July school holiday loan, these books are due back on the first day of Term 3 (Tuesday 21st July). Lost library books should be paid for at the Front Office.

Have a wonderful, safe holiday break and we’ll see you back in the Library next term.
