From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
End of Term
Where has the last 10 weeks gone! So much has happened over this time with quite a number of events occurring over the term:- Constable Care Visit, Transition for our Year 6 students, School Photos, RUOK Day, our Biggest Morning Tea and the launch of our Fathering Project through the P&C just to name a few. With all of this I am meeting more and more parents and community members every week and establishing associations and friendships which I think will last a very long time. Next term will also be busy with our School Development Day (which will take place Friday week 2, 23rd October), Colour Run (TBC), Artist in Residence, Book Week, Year 6 Graduation and Reports. Thank you to all of our parent community for your support of our school which is most appreciated by the staff. I have no doubt the students will benefit from this very positive parent-teacher relationship. Please have a safe and happy holiday and we will see you in term 4.
School Board 2021-2024
As you were aware our school board called for nominations for five parent representatives. I am very pleased to announce that we in fact received five nominations for these positions. This also means that according the Board’s Constitution we do not need to hold an election process. The five nominations will move into their respective positions on the board.
I have great pleasure in announcing the following new parent representatives:
Ms Natalie Herridge
Mr Ashley March
Mrs Jalpa Sachinkumar Patel
Mrs Michelle Santoro
Mrs Nadine Webber
We look forward to working with you in 2021 and beyond.
Athletics Carnival
What a great day this was. I measure this on the feedback and observation of our students on the day. I was thrilled to be able to move around the various activities and have the opportunity to speak to our students and see the enjoyment and enthusiasm they displayed. I must also mention their behaviour was exceptional which is also a measure of how well the carnival was organised. A huge thank you to Mr Puccinelli and Mr Brown for their hard work. Thank you to the P&C and Canteen for their contribution also. I was impressed with the number of parents who attended at various times of the day. Thank you parents for your understanding of the difficulty we had in organising and managing this event during COVID times. It was also great to see the staff come together and contribute above and beyond of what was required to support our students. Well done all for your contribution to a very successful day.
Kind Regards,
Mr Josh Jashari

Gifted and Talented: Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC)
Dear Parent(s)/ Guardian(s)/ Caregiver(s)
ASSESSMENT OF YEAR 4 STUDENTS FOR THE PEAC PROGRAM
The PEAC Program provides part time extension and enrichment for exceptionally able students in Years 5 and 6.
PEAC offers a range of courses that provide identified students with work that is intellectually challenging.
All students in Year 4 will have the opportunity to be assessed for suitability for the PEAC Program.
Testing at Landsdale Primary School will occur 19-23rd October 2020.
The scores from the test will be used in the selection of students for PEAC courses and extension programs during 2021 to 2022 and also to inform educational provision in schools.
If you do not wish your child to be included in the PEAC assessment, please notify the school in writing by Thursday 15th October 2020.
Yours sincerely
Natalie Bracegirdle
Deputy Principal
2021 Kindergarten Enrolments
If you have not put your application for Kindergarten 2021 in yet, please contact the office urgently.
2021 PP-Year 6 Enrolments
If you are not planning on returning to Landsdale Primary for 2021, please email Mrs Jen Shepherd on Jennifer.Shepherd@education.wa.edu.au urgently.
Artist in Residence
We are very excited to announce that next term all classes from year 1-6 will have the opportunity to work with an Artist in Residence. Artist Jodie Davidson has designed a large-scale sculpture of a leafy sea dragon, which will be constructed using mainly recycled and found materials. Students will work collaboratively on different sections of the leafy sea dragon sculpture which, when completed, will be displayed in the Art room. The leafy sea dragon is only found off the WA coastline, so this is a very special project theme linked to our ecology. The sculpture has been designed to also link into the CBCA 2020 Book week theme - Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.
The Artist in Residence project is only possible due to the kind and generous support of the P&C, to whom we are very grateful.
Mrs Callow and Mrs Shelsher
Nude Food Day: Thursday 24th September (Week 10)
Dear Parents,
Please pencil the above dates onto your calendar as we have scheduled two Nude Food Days for Term 3.
What is classified as a Nude Food lunch box?
Nude Food is simply food that is not wrapped in foil, plastic or commercial packaging.
Why are we promoting Nude Food?
We are encouraging Nude Food days here at Landsdale Primary School in an effort to reduce the amount of waste across the school, including plastic ending up in landfill.
Please see the attached information or visit the link below for more ideas.

We thank you for your continued support.

COVID-19 Publication for Kids
A simple picture book often explains a complex issue better than any speech. It can also provide a great basis for a thoughtful and insightful chat, especially with children.
There is no doubt that the impact COVID-19 has had on our world in 2020, will go down in the history books.
Our Library has purchased three copies of a new picture book on COVID-19 written by Louise Gribbons and published by Sydney-based Jaimie Johnstone of Stardust Publications who states:
I released “The Day We Spring-Cleaned the World” back in May. The title is a very positive and uplifting poem navigating the crazy COVID journey. It is suitable for children of all ages (primarily 4-10 years) and is a wonderful, engaging and positive resource that focuses on love and unity and taking care of the beautiful world we live in.
Jaimie registered the business in Australia, it was printed in Australia, and she has employed young Australians who lost their job during COVID to help out with her social marketing and despatch. She is proud to be supporting and promoting local business at this time.
“The Day We Spring-Cleaned the World’ is endorsed by various state Ministers for Education, as an innovative resource and special keepsake.
Fergie the Duchess of York has given the book a seal of approval and reads it online via her YouTube channel.
For a limited time, the publisher will honour a ‘Buy two, get a 3rd copy, FREE’ for our Landsdale families. Simply follow the prompts on the website.
Here is the link to add this title to your bookshelf at home!

Faction Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Faction Athletics Carnival last Thursday.
All students tried very hard with the events they participated in and should be very proud of their efforts. Thanks very much to all staff and parents for supporting the children throughout the day – it was great to see.
Many thanks to everybody who assisted on the day and leading up to the event. Thanks to the staff of Landsdale Primary School for their work in placing students in events. The day could not go ahead without all the assistance from volunteers and last minute helpers, including the canteen staff and all their hard work and the P & C. Thanks also to Timing Gates WA, all prac and Ashdale Secondary College students. Well done everybody!
Well done to Cassia for again being deserved winners of the sportsmanship award. This faction has deserved to win the award this year, not just on Faction Carnival Day but throughout training and PE lessons and thanks to my ‘sportsmanship spies’ throughout the day for taking careful notice of terrific sportsmanship. In saying that though, all factions should be very proud of their behaviour and sportsmanship in this year’s sports carnival. In fact it was very pleasing to hear an external helper comment on just how well the students were behaved. I noticed everybody was very focussed and knuckled down to the tasks at hand. Superb effort Landsdale!
Well done Grevillea for winning the championship trophy – it was well deserved and a great team effort.

Better Health Program Continues Online in Term 4
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation face-to-face programs continue to be cancelled until further notice. Ultimately, programs will not run in the community until WA enters stage 5 of the Covid-19 roadmap, which will allow sufficient participants to attend the program.
However, the online version of the program (formally named TEAM Kids Online) featuring weekly phone call support will continue uninterrupted.
Please note that Term 4 2020 places on the online version of the program are limited, with places being offered to families completely free of charge on a first come first served basis.
Floorball is a fast, action packed yet safe sport for kids as young as 8, with all 40min games being played on Saturday mornings starting in Term 4.
Whilst the competition doesn’t start until Oct 17th, we are hosting 2 FREE come and try days on Sat 12th and 19th September (details in the flyer) and would encourage as many kids to come as possible.
