25 March 2021
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
School Review
As you are aware this was held on Thursday 11th March. The reviewers arrived early and set themselves up ready to meet with parents, staff, students and administration team members. Meetings were conducted throughout the day in groups of six or seven. The five key areas that were looked at were:
- Relationships and Partnerships
- Learning Environment
- Leadership
- Use of Resources
- Teaching Quality
- Student Achievement and Progress
Thank you to our parent representatives from the board and P&C for taking the time to meet with our reviewers. In the final meeting with myself and the deputies the reviewers indicated that they had a wonderful day listening to everyone’s ‘story’ about different aspects of the school’s operation. They also said ‘it was one of the best schools they have reviewed and they were super impressed with collaboration between staff and they very much liked the quality of the team meetings and the team planning that was occurring within the school. The school has a very positive culture which is reflective in the performance of our students.
They gave high praise to the parent support for the school that was obvious in the parent meeting and meeting some parents informally before school.
Their meeting with our students was a highlight for them as they loved the way they articulated their views and could see that they were genuine and not rehearsed.
The report will be published on the school’s website and on School’s On Line when it becomes available.
Thank You to our P&C
A huge thank you to the P&C for their contribution to the schools wish list. The P&C have donated approximately $6000 to a number of school projects including the Artist in Residence Program, Year 6 Camp, Graduation and Sunscreen for all students. The P&C will work their way down our ‘Wish List’ as funding becomes available.
Children’s Crossing
Members of the Departments Children’s Crossing and Road Safety Committee have contacted the school to indicate that in a recent survey it was noted that many students and parents where not making use of the school’s children’s crossing. They have asked me to encourage more students and parents to use this facility otherwise there may be a reduction in this service. Please use the crossing at all times as it is unsafe to cross the road at any other location. We do want our students to learn good road safety habits. It is important that parents model best practice.
Kind regards,
Josh Jashari

NAPLAN Online – Information for Parents
Students in Years 3 & 5 will be participating in the annual NAPLAN tests in reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
The assessment provides parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process – student grades are based on ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, the NAPLAN results are not necessarily considered.
This year the NAPLAN tests will be held from Tuesday 11th May to Friday 21st May, 2021. The school’s testing timetable for testing will be provided early in Term 2. For more information, please see the pdf attached.
ANZAC Ceremony
Our ANZAC Ceremony be held on Friday 23rd April at 9:00am. Parents please arrive by 8.45am for a 9.00am start.
Donations of flowers will be greatly appreciated on Thursday 22nd April at the front office so that wreaths can be made. Buckets will be placed outside the office for collection.

Interschool Tennis
What a big week it has been in tennis last Thursday, March 11 and Friday, March 12. We had two teams represent Landsdale in the Academy Plate tennis and all students should be commended on how they went about representing the school and the results achieved.
Our Landsdale 1 girls team achieved our best result ever, winning the B division play-off. Great stuff girls....and they had to defeat our Landsdale 2 team along the way in a hard fought ‘derby’.
Both our boys’ teams adjusted well to the grass courts at Alexander Park Tennis Club, with both teams winning three out of five matches. There was some tough competition against the International School and Rosalie Park Tennis Club.
A big thank you to all the parents that assisted in transporting the students and managing teams over both days.
Most of the players started in the school’s ‘hot shot’ journey in 2016 and it has been pleasing to see the progression and interest in the sport since then. It was a very busy time for some students, with interschool cricket, camp and the tennis in very stifling conditions. Well done - you all deserve an icey-pole!

Kiss & Drive
Just a reminder that Term 2 (19th of April to 2nd of July) is Year 3 and 4's parents turn.
Thank you to the few parents that have already put their names down so far. Please remember that in order to make this a success your volunteering time is much needed. This term is a slightly longer term so, all your help is required.

If you haven’t done Kiss and Drive helping before and are unsure of what is required, please do not hesitate to contact your Kiss and Drive Co-ordinator Darshana Kika on lpspandcroadwise@gmail.com.
I would also like to thank the Year 5/6 parents that did come forward once or a few times and helped manage Kiss and Drive this term. So thank you! You are all in draw to win one of 2 $10 vouchers from the canteen. To be drawn in week 1 of Term 2.
We have noticed in the morning especially that some parents are forgetting to use their indicators when exiting the kiss and drive. This can cause confusion for the cars that are passing by. If you indicate the cars behind can then slow down and give you way to exit. Please remember to indicate at all times.

Kingsway Junior Football Club
Kingsway Junior Football Club is planning 2 exciting Come & Try sessions at Warradale Reserve Landsdale. The sessions will be held on Sunday 11th April and Sunday 18th April. There will be a mixed session between 9am and 10am, a girls’ only session between 10:15am and 11:15pm and a Starkick session between 11:30am and 12:30pm.
The presentation would consist of some of the weekly activities from the Auskick 2.0 program which promotes having fun and everyone getting their hands on the football.
We are asking all parents to register their interest by emailing auskickcoordinator@kingswayjfc.com.au to ensure we have good numbers to run the event.
We have also put together a brand new program for the Kindy kids called Footy Fun. Footy Fun will be a 2 x 6 week program which will be run in conjunction with our Auskick Program. Footy Fun is a program tailored for the younger kids with heaps of fun and exciting games that will give the kids some basic skill to get them ready for Auskick.
