From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
School Open Night (Kindergarten - Year 6)
Given that our COVID 19 Restrictions will remain at Phase 5 we are planning to have our School Open Night this term. This will be in Week 9, Wednesday 15th September from 4:30 to 6:30pm. Although we did not have an Open Night last year we will be following same format as in previous years.
Classroom teachers will open their classrooms in a learning journey format, with activities and challenges for students to undertake with their parents. These activities reflect the learning that occurs in classrooms, and allows parents to experience current curriculum content and school priorities. Specialist staff will also be providing experiences at various locations around the school. Each parent will receive a passport to help them navigate their way around the activities.
Parents please be aware that this will not be a time to have an interview with your child’s teacher. Should you wish to do this you are welcome to make an appointment for a meeting on another date.
Claire Eaton
As part of our transition program and in line with our wellbeing focus at Landsdale Primary School our Year 6 students will be attending a work shop session with Claire Eaton. Claire is a National Speaker, Personal Coach and Writer. Claire is the author of Hello High School and ROC and RISE; resilience optimism and confidence boosting books for teenagers. Our year 6 students will take away tween friendly tools, tips and strategies needed to transition from primary to high school with less stress and more success in 2022. We are also hoping to provide a parent workshop giving parents similar tools to support their children with their transition. The dates for the workshops are yet to be determined. The school will notify parents as soon as this has been finalised.
School Board Meeting: Business Plan/Facilities Planning
Our School Board met on Monday. Members had an opportunity to view and discuss preliminary planning for the new School Business Plan 2022-2024. Cyber Safety Parent Information Session with Paul Litherland from Surf Online Safe – Monday 23rd August, 6pm-7.30pm
Now, more than ever, people are connecting online. While there are many benefits to technology, it can also expose young people to negative experiences. We need to be aware of the dangers that potentially exist in the ‘online world’ and have the knowledge to minimise the impact this can have.
The Ashdale Cluster invites its parents to a FREE information session about cyber safety by Paul Litherland from Surf Online Safe. Paul, an ex-Police Officer of 20 years, spent the last five years of his Policing career in the Technology Crime Investigation Unit.
Paul’s engaging and informative session focuses on educating students and community members on how to be safe online and raise awareness of current online risks.
Bookings are essential. Register via https://ashdalesc.eventbrite.com.au.

Term 3 Update
Faction Carnival notes are being sent home. Please make note of the day pre orders are due in by for both student and parent ordering. We will be trying a new system to have orders out for the students this year so will need plenty of hands to help us. If you would like to help please let me know on our mobile number (0403 326 828). It will be only for a short time right before the lunch break and shouldn’t impact on viewing any of the races or games.
Waste Free Wednesday is on again this term (please remember to send a fork with your child if ordering). This will coincide with our Wednesday specials. We will post these specials every Sunday on Facebook so don’t forget to hop on and have a look.
Lunch orders are on Qkr every morning. The cut off for ordering is 8.45am. Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any issues.
We have a huge range of yummy homemade treats available for the kids to buy at recess time ranging from 50c to $2.50. We would love to hear from your children if they have any ideas on any healthy treats they might like.

We will also have cards this year for $1.00 (until sold out).
We will be looking for volunteers to help on the day, if you’re interested please let us know. Signup link will come out soon.

Just a reminder on Southmead Road, please parents do not stop in the middle of the road by the gate and drop off your children. This is a big hazard to you as well as your children. Either find a parking bay or use the Kiss n Drive. It will just take a few more extra minutes of your time, which is worth it for everyone’s safety. This also goes for Warradale Terrace. Parents are parking on the kerbside across the gate which then in turn is blocking the cars behind them and children are then having to cross the road. This too is a hazard. Please parents be mindful of safety and use the Kiss n Drive or find a parking bay. It is us as parents that need to set a good example of driving for our children in the future.
Still be mindful and not to forget to drive right up to the front of Kiss n Drive if it’s empty in the mornings. That way traffic behind you is not backing up. Also don’t forget to indicate your intentions, be it entering the Kiss n Drive or exiting as that helps drivers behind you know what you are intending.
Drive safely everyone in this wet weather.

Darshana

Wanneroo Joondalup Tee Ball Club - Registrations
The Wanneroo Joondalup Tee Ball Club ('WJTBC') 'Come & Try Day' will be held on Saturday 21st August 2021 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Percy Doyle Reserve, Duncraig (COVID permitting). BBQ and Canteen food will be available. We understand some schools run Tee Ball as part of their sports program in Term 3 or 4 so we believe this event is timely.
Tee Ball is a fantastic, summer season sport that builds friendships and co-ordination, but most importantly is about kids getting involved and having fun! Organised activities involving sports, music or education have proven to be beneficial to a child’s physical, cognitive, cultural and social development.
