24 March 2022
From the Principal
Dear Parents and families,
ANZAC Assembly
Due to the current COVID restrictions that are in place we will not be holding our traditional ANZAC Assembly. The school will run an ‘in house’ version with a pre-recorded service being developed and undertaken by our senior students. This will be shown on Thursday 7th April to the rest of the school in their classrooms on the day.
Harmony Week
Harmony Week is a time to come together and celebrate our diversity. Australia is a vibrant and multicultural country - from the oldest continuous culture of our first Australians to the cultures of our newest arrivals from around the world.
Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are. It makes Australia a great place to live.
An integrated multicultural Australia is an integral part of our national identity. All people who migrate to Australia bring with them some of their own cultural and religious traditions, as well as taking on many new traditions. Collectively, these traditions have enriched our nation (Department of Home Affairs Website).
To celebrate this event students will be invited to wear traditional cultural dress to school on Friday 25th March. Students can also wear colours of their national flag or wear orange which is the official colour of Harmony Week. Student will also be undertaking class based activities including a Harmony Door display.
COVID 19
It is important that parents inform the school as soon as it is practicable if your child has tested positive to COVID-19. This information is used to determine if there are any close contacts within the school environment.
This week we have had a number of positive cases in various classroom. Parents of those students have been notified.
Adhering to the mask wearing mandate has greatly reduced close contact levels in our year 3-6 cohort. Please do not send students to school if they are feeling unwell.
Parents please also note a number of staff have been deemed close contacts or have tested positive to COVID. These staff are in isolation. For your information we will see a larger than normal number of relief staff within the school. In some cases timetable changes have been made to reflect this.
Traffic Warden Unavailable
Message from WA Police:
We have just been updated on details for the Traffic Warden allocated to Southmead Drive (near Brookway Retreat) Landsdale, and they will now not be available until 31 March 2022. Unfortunately there are no relief Traffic Wardens in the area at this time.
Please remind your family, students and school community to be aware of their surroundings.
Kind regards,
Josh Jashari

Welcome to Bilingual Families Perth
Bilingual Families Perth is a not-for-profit network of linguistically diverse people in Western Australia.
Our network connects over 500 families and individuals from more than 40 language backgrounds. In the past 10 years we have provided support for families who speak Afrikaans, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Cantonese, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Farsi, Finnish, French, German, Gujarati, Greek, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Macedonian, Malay, Malayalam, Mandarin, Mongolian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Samoan, Serbian, Spanish, Swahili, Swiss-German, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Turkish, Vietnamese besides various dialects of the relevant languages.
Most families have pre-school or school-aged children and we are experiencing similar issues while raising our children in more than one language. We also work together with professionals who share information on bilingualism and multilingualism. We can probably put you in touch with people who speak your language.

Kiss & Drive Announcement
Last year we embarked on a new challenge and we nailed it! The new roster for the Kiss N Drive Program worked so amazingly well and we are continuing the program into 2022.
Each term has been designated year groups for parents to volunteer for a session to help Kiss N Drive on that afternoon. Parents are able to forward plan their session into the year and change as required. The roster updates in real time which makes changes immediate ultimately allowing for the roster to look after itself. A link to the roster is below. The Roadwise Committee will do the first week of each term as we return to school. It’s in this week each Thursday will double as a training session for those who wish to see how easy it is before you do your own.
As a thank you we will raffle the names on roster at the end of each term to win one of two $10 vouchers for the canteen and don’t forget you also have the use of a staff car park on the day you volunteer for Kiss N Drive. If you find it as easy as you thought it would be, roster in for a second or third session for more entries into the draw!!
This was Kiss N Drive’s first major change to how it’s been run in the school’s 24 year history. The committee was so excited to see this come to fruition after much planning and to have it be so successful was an extra win.
Now it’s over to the parents of 2022 to help even Just Once to make it a success.
Contact our Roadwise Coordinator for any questions on lpspandcroadwise@gmail.com
Now it’s up to all of us! Please help us to spread the word by sharing and talking to each other about the roster. Parent Link will help to remind year groups through the year to communicate this to all our families as well. Let’s get 2022 off to a great start with our year 2 & 6 parents up first for term 1.
