3 November 2022

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

World Teacher Appreciation Day

Friday 28th October was World Teacher Appreciation Day. Thanks to Michelle, Nerissa and the parent link team for organising such a wonderful morning tea for the staff. Earlier in the morning, Michelle, our school chaplain worked with Sonshine FM to run their morning show from Landsdale PS. Amity and Peter shared some inciteful accounts of school friendship and resilience programs (UR STRONG and Zero to Hero) with listeners while staff and parents enjoyed a coffee van provided by the station.

Book Fair

Many thanks to Mel Fuller and the wonderful team of parent helpers who have run the Book Fair this week. Without the tireless help from parents these special events wouldn’t happen. Make sure you get your order in by the end of the week.

Colour Explosion

The Colour Explosion is coming up on Friday 11th November. The P&C have planned a fun afternoon for the students. There are lots of amazing prizes for fundraisers, so time to get out there and get some sponsors. Students are encouraged to wear a white t shirt on the day of the fun run to get the full colour explosion fun run experience.

Check out the school Facebook page for photos of events.

Kind Regards,

Natalie Bracegirdle
Principal

End of Term 4 for Students

BYOD Ipad/MacBook Program

This term, we are undertaking many preparations for next year to ensure that the start of 2023 is a positive one for students, parents and staff.

One of the exciting things for the students going into Year 4 in 2023 is the BYOD iPad/MacBook Program. Parents are invited to purchase an iPad or MacBook for their child to enhance their learning experience both at school and at home. Our program has transformed the teaching and learning pedagogy, enabling teachers to implement highly refined, engaging and individual programs through the use of student devices and a broad range of high impact instructional strategies.

We would like to provide more information about the details and efficacy of the program to parents of our Year 3 students at our Parent BYOD Information Forums. We also invite any parents from other year levels who would like to attend. Thank you to the parents who came to the first Parent Information Forum, their feedback was that it was valuable for them to see how teachers use the devices in the class and to have all their questions answered regarding the details of the program. We have 2 Forums still to come this term, both to be held in the Library:

Friday 18th Nov @ 8am-8.45am
Monday 5th Dec @ 4.30pm-5.30pm

An information booklet containing all the relevant information is being sent home this week to all Year 3 students’ families and will also be available on the website. The forums will enable you to ask clarifying questions and see how students are using the devices.
