20 October 2016
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
Teachers are now constructing class lists for 2017. We are seeking your advice in terms of any information that could assist us. This information should concern clashes your child has with others, bullying or family issues. Please email Tania.Burke@education.wa.edu.au or send a letter marked 'Private and Confidential' to Tania by 28th October, 2016.
Camp for the year 6 students was spectacular. The circus instruction, raft making and the quiz night were features that the students really enjoyed. Thanks to all staff who gave freely of their time in creating such a marvellous event.
I would like to thank all the students who contributed to the Ashdale Secondary College's STEM Expo. Their contributions definitely show that our students are the flexible thinkers of the future.
Mr Puccinelli has also been busy by organising a resurfacing of our courts. Thanks to him and Tennis Australia.

Students Not Returning to Landsdale in 2017
Please let us know if your children currently in Pre-Primary to Year 5 will no longer be attending Landsdale Primary School next year because you are moving or changing schools. We are doing our best to get well organised for a smooth start to 2017 but we rely on your help in this important area. All schools are funded according to our enrolments so it is very important that we plan on accurate enrolment numbers. Families who know they will not be returning to Landsdale Primary School in 2017 are asked to click on the attached link or phone the school.
We still have Kindergarten places available for 2017. Please see the front office if a place is required.

Stem Expo at Ashdale Secondary College
Last week Landsdale Primary School Year 5 students contributed to and attended Ashdale Secondary College's STEM Expo. It was an inspiring event with Ashdale students, many of whom are Landsdale past students organizing and leading workshops along with the teachers and SciTech presenters. Our Year 5 students had their STEM projects that they had worked on during Term 3 in their Challenge Based Learning. The Makey-Makey game controller that you could use with your feet or hands was a particular favourite, as was the shoes that light up with led light strips. The go-cart another group displayed looked ready to speed away and the team who made it are keen to test it out! Our Arduino's were a feature and the different ways they can be used and programmed like the robots we featured and the controlled "Blink" of the different led lights. Our students also had the opportunity to attend workshops ranging from a TV studio and the Space Dome to a range of STEM projects designed and built by the ASC students to engage our kids in the wonder of integrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Many of our students apply and are accepted into the STEM Academy and ICT Specialist Program, I think many of our Year 4, 5 & 6 students are hoping to follow in their footsteps.

Parent Information Session
Thank you to all who attended the Parent Funded 1-1 Laptop Program information evening at Ashdale Secondary College yesterday, I hope all your questions were answered. We will run a follow up parent information session at Landsdale Primary School in week 8 this term. The session is for parents of year 3 students this year to provide information regarding the program in Year 4, 2017. It also provides information to any parent of a year 5 & 6 who has not already joined the program.
Parent Steering Committee Meeting
As parents are our partners in this program, it is vital that we understand your views. We have some new and keen members of the Parent Steering Committee for the 1-1 Program, but always welcome more members. We meet no more than twice a term. Our next meeting is Tuesday 25th October, 4.30pm in the staffroom.

Welcome back to term 4 and this term is another busy one for the Physical Education Program.
Please encourage children to wear appropriate footwear and a hat when attending Physical Education lessons. A water bottle at the moment would be good as the weather will start warming up quickly.
New Court Surfacing
During the holidays we had our multi-purpose courts resurfaced and relined. They look amazing! Thanks to the team at West Coast Synthetics for doing this work. Part of this work was funded by Tennis Australia.
Interschool Events this term
This term we have two interschool events, mainly involving year 6 students. On Friday, 18th November Landsdale will be defending its 'Handball' championship at North Woodvale PS. This event is now sanctioned by School Sport Western Australia and is eagerly anticipated by all students.
On Friday, 2nd December we have our 'Cluster Friendly' involving Ashdale and Madeley primary schools where students have a chance to meet some of their new classmates for 2017. The students play with students from the other cluster schools in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The event is held at Kingsway Sporting Complex from 12.45pm.

P&C President's Report
Welcome back to the last term of the 2016. Term 4 will be a busy one for the P&C with two of our major fundraisers being held. The BOOK FAIR and the FETE.
Our annual Book Fair is being held from the 7th-11th November in the school library. Opening times are yet to be confirmed but will let you know as soon as they are. If anyone is able to help out for an hour in the mornings and afternoons, your help would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me at anferguson1977@gmail.com if you are able to spare some time to help.
Our Fete is being held on Friday 25th November from 4:30-8:30pm. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year with all money raised being put towards outdoor play equipment for the students. If you are able to volunteer some time on the night, please contact Melissa Kelleher on 0402 219 454.
Kiss N' Drive has improved significantly since the new signs have been installed. We are still seeking regular volunteers (especially for next year). If you are able to spare 15-20 minutes in the afternoon either weekly, fortnightly or monthly, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Olivia at rohnlivs@gmail.com
Without the help of parent volunteers, the P&C are unable to run efficiently and to its full extent. Our next meeting is being held on Tuesday 25th October at 7pm in the school staffroom. Everyone is welcome.
Please note: The uniform shop will not be open on Friday 28th October as it is a School Development Day.

We have sent new Term 4 Menus home.
ONLINE Ordering
Thank you to everyone who have utilised the online ordering system for the canteen over the past Term. The online ordering system assists us in the canteen to reduce the amount of time it takes to process the lunch orders each morning. It also reduces the incidence of lost and foreign lunch money. The school holidays would be ideal time to sign up for online ordering at http://www.ouronlinecanteen.com.au ready for Term 4.
Volunteers
Thank you to everyone who volunteered in the canteen during Term 3. The canteen has now got its new Volunteer Roster up for Term 4. If anyone has some spare time available in the mornings then we would love to have some extra assistance in the canteen. Please see Alison in the canteen.

Participants will explore what actually constitutes maltreatment and how the impact continues and changes for the child as they grow into adulthood. Topics include the roles of heredity and environment, impact of maltreatment on the adult survivor, the factors that exacerbate that impact and the interventions that can assist the healing process.
You may find this workshop of value, if you:
- Work with adults that you suspect may have been abused as children and wonder about the impact that abuse has had
