From the Principal

Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome back.

Last term, even though there were a low number of students misbehaving, teachers were looking at improving student behaviour in the playground and the classrooms. We began work on creating a whole school Good Standing policy in which students, who misbehave, will miss out on excursions. We have also surveyed students about how they feel about themselves and school.

This term we will be continuing with developing consistency in behaviour expectations and enforcing our uniform policy. We will also be implementing some programs in response to the information gathered from the wellness survey.

Thanks to those who gave the school feedback on the rewards we give to students. As a result, we are revising the use of merit awards, Aussie of the Month and teacher letters of commendation with the P&C and school board.

Regards,

Dr Tony Beswick
Principal

Chaplain’s Chat

Hey All,

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you had a great Easter time together and enjoyed some down time, even if you still had to work! I’m fortunate that my wife is a teacher, so we get to have shared school holidays together.

Supporting your child’s emotional intelligence development

Connections Counselling Perth is hosting a ‘Bringing Up Great Kids’ seminar across two Saturday mornings in June. This is a program that presents a 5-step method that builds emotional intelligence and creates positive, long lasting effects for children of all ages. Easy to learn and used by parents, grandparents, educators, and care-givers, it supports kids through life’s ups and downs in a way that builds confidence and helps them grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

The course runs across two Saturday mornings, 15th June & 22nd June from 9:00am-12:30pm with morning tea supplied. The cost is $100 per person or $150 per couple (plus booking fees).

To register simply go to the link below, click on ‘events > scheduled events’ in the menu and follow the directions for Bringing Up Great Kids.

P&C Mother’s Day Stall 2019

It’s nearly here! Don’t forget the Mother’s Day Stall this year will be held across TWO days – Thursday 9th May & Friday 10th May. Teachers will have selected which day their class will visit the stall so be sure to check with them. Our P&C facebook page will have the list to check with as well. We are very excited about the Stall this year and we know how much the kids love coming to do a bit of ‘shopping’, so make sure students bring along $5 to buy your Mum, Caregiver or special lady in your life a lovely gift for Mother’s Day.

School Banking at Landsdale Primary School!

The P & C have decided to close our relationship with the Commonwealth Bank after running the program for numerous years at Landsdale Primary. The volunteer hours it takes to run the banking at the school and the management tasks expected from the bank have become onerous. We also feel that the scheme no longer aligns with our school’s philosophy.

It will continue throughout Term 2, to enable all current student bankers to order rewards. Consequently, the last banking day will be Thursday 4th July, 2019. A huge thank you to all those students and families who participated and to those who have volunteered to run school banking.

Please come and see me Thursday's between 8 and 9am, if you have any questions.
